I discovered self cover buttons!
I’ve just finished off a Mimi blouse (another pattern from Love at First Stitch) and just have to share how cute my buttons are!
I’d never made self cover buttons before, so when I made these I was really giddy at how perfectly they came out. Check out how they’re the perfect size for an anchor to fit on!
And you know what? It’s a total coincidence. Ha! I didn’t think about it at all, I just picked out a fabric I liked (yay anchors) and bought 1/2″ buttons because the pattern told me to. I was literally squealing with joy when the two came together so nicely!
Photos of my Mimi coming up soon. What shall I make next?

Haha I just discovered self cover buttons too and they are my new favourite thing! I can’t believe how long it took me to find out! Now I want to put them on everything!
They’re great aren’t they! The possibilities are endless!
I love these! I am still so scared of buttonholes though, I have a skirt just waiting for buttonholes but so scared of damaging the lovely skirt…but I can’t wear the lovely skirt without buttonholes! Argh
It is really scary! The worst bit is cutting into your garment with a seam ripper. But you can put a pin at the end as a stopper so you don’t accidentally put a huge rip the whole thing…
I managed it – wooo! thanks for the pin tip, I didn’t rip too far so I am really happy with that!
Yay! Now you can wear your lovely skirt 🙂
